On Their Pilgram Trail

(faith-word) The year was about 1491 B.C. The slaves of Egypt are now free citizens in the desert on their way to the Promised Land. They had not drawn up constitution and no Bill of Rights. Moses was leading as Christ was guiding. Many unanswered questions must have been going through their minds concerning their God.

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.” Exd.19:10-11 (KJV).

As that remarkable morning drew on, they were curious. Can anyone see God and live? Is God a giant? Is He black or white? Will He speak Latin or Greek? Most of them wondered. But those that have know God closely were not terrified. “And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up”. Exd. 19:16-20 (KJV). “And God spake all these words, saying,” Exd. 20:1 (KJV).

This was the first anniversary of the most discussed law-the THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. The ten commandments is very uniquely distinctive. It is the only audible words that God spoke to a whole nation. “These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.” Deut. 5:22 (KJV).

God did not trust the forgetful human mind. So in His divine wisdom He engraved the la on two tablets of stone. “And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exd.31:18 (KJV).

The preservation of this law was very important to God. “And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark. Deut. 10:2 (KJV). God also gave the Israelites ceremonial law, which was shadows of things to come, and they were placed beside the ark. “Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.” Deut. 31:26(KJV). The Ten Commandments was preserved inside the ark. Deut. 10:2. The ten-commandment law is divided into two sections. The first four deal with our relationship and obedience to the creator God.

The last six day deal with our relationship to each other and to the respect to the property of others. “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matt. 22:37-40(KJV).

In the middle of this Decalogue is only disputed law amongst the Christians of this last hour. It the fourth of the Ten bCommandments. It looks like the wise God knew it was going to e changed, forgotten or cause great controversy in the later days, hence in His address to the nation of Israel on Mount Sinai that morning He started this fourth commandment with “Remember the Sabath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exd.20:8-11 (KJV).

Has this law been repealed y God? Was it changed? Who change it? What does the prophecy, the psalms and the gospel say about the change? How does it affect us now and our eternity? What can we or should we do about it? Where should we go from here? These are few of the many lights unfolded on this blog. (faith-word)
